Dr. Gray and the surgical team caring for a patient

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

The full scope of surgical care, beyond implants alone.

Wisdom teeth. Complex extractions. Bone grafting. Sinus lifts. Sleep apnea. Trauma. Many of our most challenging cases were declined elsewhere.

Services

What we do, beyond implants.

If a procedure is not listed here, ask. Dr. Gray has been practicing in St. Louis for over twenty years and trains other doctors in advanced implantology.

Wisdom Teeth

Removal of erupted, partially erupted, or impacted third molars under local, nitrous, or IV sedation.

Complex Extractions

Roots, retained fragments, and teeth with surrounding bone loss or close proximity to nerves.

Bone Grafting

Socket preservation, ridge augmentation, and block grafting to prepare for implant placement.

Sinus Lift

Internal and lateral approach sinus elevation for upper posterior implant placement.

Exposure of Impacted Teeth

Coordinated with orthodontic treatment for canines and other impacted teeth.

Biopsies

Soft tissue and bone biopsies with referral coordination to pathology and oncology as needed.

Sleep Apnea Surgery

Surgical options for patients who are not tolerating CPAP, evaluated case by case.

Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

Preparation of the mouth for stable denture or implant restorations.

Facial Trauma

Soft tissue and bony injuries to the face, jaws, and dentition.

Facial Fillers

Filler placement for facial volume and lip support, performed in a surgical setting.

Medical complexity, handled here

Diabetes. Anticoagulation. Sleep apnea. Prior radiation. Bisphosphonate history.

Many oral surgeries are declined elsewhere not because the surgery is unusual, but because the patient is. Dr. Gray is licensed as both an oral surgeon and a physician. Medical clearance, medication management, and risk discussion happen here, with your other physicians, before any surgical date is set.

Sedation options

  • Local anesthesia only for shorter, simpler procedures
  • Nitrous oxide for added comfort without an IV
  • IV moderate sedation for most extractions and grafts
  • IV deep sedation or full sleep state for longer or more complex cases

All sedation is performed by a trained team with continuous monitoring. We discuss the right level with you before surgery.
