Medical Clearance
Clearance is coordination, not rejection.
A dual-trained oral surgeon and physician reviews your medical history, talks with your other doctors when needed, and builds a plan that respects your biology.
What we coordinate
Six common areas where medical clearance shapes the surgical plan.
Diabetes and A1C
We discuss target ranges before surgery and coordinate with your endocrinologist when needed. Well controlled diabetes is not a barrier to implants.
Anticoagulation and antiplatelet therapy
Bleeding risk is managed in coordination with your cardiologist or primary care physician. We do not ask you to stop medications on your own.
Sleep apnea and airway
Sedation level is chosen to match airway risk. CPAP use is discussed and incorporated into the recovery plan.
Cardiovascular history
Recent events, stents, or valve concerns are reviewed with your cardiologist before any surgical date is set.
Prior head and neck radiation
Healing biology is different after radiation. We discuss timing, location, and hyperbaric oxygen indications case by case.
Bisphosphonate and antiresorptive history
We screen for type, duration, and route. The plan is built around your specific exposure.
